Poland will receive near the end of the week a delivery of rapid screening tests that will speed up the diagnosis of coronavirus, Deputy Health Minister Waldemar Kraska said at a press conference in Warsaw on Wednesday.
Amplicon, a Polish biotechnology company based in the south-western city of Wroclaw, has launched the manufacturing of Covid-19 diagnostic tests and reported that it can produce 15,000 such tests per week.
A total of 148,321 samples have so far been tested for coronavirus in Polish laboratories and the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Poland has increased to 7,049, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.
The contactless testing capsule from Kraków firm Medicovid is divided into two sections – one for medical personnel and the other for the people being examined. Once the person’s temperature is measured by a thermal imaging camera, a red or green light is automatically displayed to indicate whether the person can move on.
The capacity of Polish laboratories conducting coronavirus tests is likely to reach 20,000 tests per day, Health Ministry spokesman Wojciech Andrusiewicz said on Friday, adding that currently, the daily rate of testing is at 16,000.
Funds for the production of the first 100,000 coronavirus tests have already been transferred to the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Former Minister of Science and Higher Education Jarosław Gowin said on Thursday.
A total of 92,215 samples have, so far, been tested for coronavirus in Polish laboratories, while the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Poland has increased to 4,532, the Ministry of Health said on Tuesday.
Polish PM Mateusz Morawiecki announced on Monday that the number of coronavirus infections in Poland will reach its peak in May or June, and underlined that discipline was what mattered most at this current stage of the coronavirus epidemic.
Over forty laboratories across Poland are testing some 7,800 samples per day for the presence of coronavirus, wrote the Polish Health Ministry on Sunday. So far, 80,757 samples have been tested.
A total of 72,901 samples have so far been tested for coronavirus in Polish laboratories, while the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Poland has increased to 3,303, the Polish Ministry of Health said on Saturday.
