Completing the 36-km ‘Loch Ness “MONSTER” Swim’, endurance swimmer Piotr Biankowski will be raising money for the Ronald McDonald Foundation in Poland.
The group known as ‘Walruses’ from Środa Śląska were taking their annual festive plunge when they spotted the floundering pooch after it had fallen through the lake’s thin icy covering.
The history-making award comes after Ola Bednarek swam for 13 hours and 17 minutes. She later said: “In a straight line it is 36km, but due to the currents the route is longer. I suppose that I swam about 40-45km."
