A Polish stamp featuring the Eurasian lynx has won the gold medal in the EUROPA 2021 competition for the most beautiful postage stamp, the Polish Post announced on Friday.
Striking in their intricacy, the stamps depict the Polonia, Kościuszko and Pułaski, three ships once known as ‘the Princess’s jewels’. With two also serving in the war, the hero boats were once the pride of Poland.
The museum was first opened on January 25th 1921 but the centenary celebrations were delayed due to COVID restrictions, now the museum is once again open to the public.
A stamp issued by the Polish Post (Poczta Polska) has been awarded first prize in the EUROPA Stamp 2020 competition, the company announced on Thursday.
The documents produced between 1939 and 1944 by the occupying German authorities in Łódź, came to light when a man living in the Bielany district of Warsaw who says he bought them at a market offered the collection for sale demanding PLN 59,000.
Available in both Poland and Israel, the stamp celebrates 100 years and 70 years of Polish and Israeli independence.
