Around 4.4 mln pilgrims visited Jasna Góra Monastery in Częstochowa, southern Poland, in 2019, an increase of 100,000 people on the 2018 figure. The number of walking pilgrimages is also growing, the press office of the monastery has reported.
Formally part of Poland, the 6kg of coins were found in the town of Zbarazh (Zbaraż) which was one of the settings for Henryk Sienkiewicz's classic 1884 novel With Fire and Sword.
The New Epiphany of Beauty competition at the Icon Museum in the 15th century town of Supraśl, collects and preserves 21st Century icons. The museum has one of the richest collections of icons in Poland from the past three centuries.
