Dancer-turned-designer wows with his stunning eco-friendly ‘art clothes’ made from recycled materials

Designer Szymon Kot from Chorzów came up with the idea during the pandemic when he was struck down with Covid and confined to bed. panszymonkot

The unique cloth paintings, composed of recycled materials from car factories, sewing workshops, upholstery warehouses and second hand clothes shops, include depictions of Vermeer’s ‘Girl with the Pearl Earring’, Van Gogh’s ‘Sunflowers’, a self-portrait of Frida Kahlo, and Da Vinci’s ‘Lady with an Ermine’.

Łódź scientists create revolutionary ‘heavy-duty’ biodegradable materials from modified starch

Although the use of starch in recycled materials is not new, previous attempts to apply it created materials that were weak and susceptible to tears. The new development from the Łódź University of Technology has overcome the problem for the first time in history. 

Scientists come up with world’s FIRST uncuttable material after being inspired by shells and grapefruit

Named after the shape-changing mythical god ‘Proteus’, the super strong material has so far been impossible to cut, resistant even to angle grinders, drills and high-pressure water jets.
