The signs, which depict a graphic of a single hedgehog in a black outline beneath the capitalised “Warning Hedgehogs”, was the winning design voted on by local residents.
Around 18 metres long and 1.5 metres wide, the housing complex was designed to resemble a mini-version of the AGH University of Science and Technology’s building, so that, as the organisers put it, the hedgehogs “immediately feel that they live at AGH”.
Wrocław’s Deputy President Adam Zawada announced that leaves falling from trees and shrubs will remain untouched in areas indicated by special signs in order for the hedgehog population to have places to sleep.
