Poland and Hungary have reached an agreement to help persecuted religious groups and to counteract threats to religious freedom, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced in a press statement.
Belarusians must be supported in their strive for freedom but it is they alone who will have to decide about their future, Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said on Thursday on Polish Radio, commenting ongoing protests in Belarus after Sunday's presidential elections.
The Polish and Lithuanian presidents have appealed to the Belarusian authorities to fully recognise and observe democratic standards, to stop violence, and to respect fundamental freedoms and human and civil rights.
