The United States will send 3,000 additional troops to Poland in the coming days as fears of a Russian invasion of Ukraine grow, the US defence department has announced as quoted by several news agencies.
The Pentagon announced on Wednesday the US is to send an additional 3,000 soldiers to Poland, Germany and Romania to support its allies in the face of a Russian military build-up around Ukraine.
US President Joe Biden has formally confirmed the deployment of a further 2,000 American soldiers to Poland as well as several thousand to Romania and other countries on Nato's eastern flank, the CNN television channel reported on Wednesday.
The New York-based Kosciuszko Foundation has requested US President Donald Trump that Fort Bragg in North Carolina be renamed Fort Kosciuszko. In an open letter to the US head of state, it stated that all Americans could be proud of Kosciuszko.
