No rate hike due to global slowdown says rate-setting body

Poland's rate setting council said on Wednesday that its decision to put interest rates on hold was based on expectations that the global economic slowdown along with monetary tightening in Poland and abroad will lower inflation towards the central bank's inflation target.

Central bank head confirms economic slowdown

Current figures confirm a gradual slowing of Poland's economy, the head of the Polish central bank said on Thursday.

‘Hardest mission ever!’ Polish search and rescue team head to Turkey as earthquake death toll mounts

A 76-strong team has set off to help in the rescue effort following the massive earthquake that hit the country on Monday morning as the teams head says: “The mission... will be one of the hardest we've been on so far."
