Poland has allocated over PLN 400 million (EUR 90.9 million) to fight the COVID-19 pandemic around the world, including funding for research on the coronavirus, vaccines, drugs and tests, the Foreign Ministry reported on Monday.
After seven years on the force, the nine-year-old Dutch Shepherd who helped bring down some of Poland’s most dangerous crooks, including drug dealers, murderers and organised crime mobsters, is now looking forward to a slower pace of life.
Officers found over 144 barrels containing the drug after it had travelled from Ecuador to Hamburg and then by road to Gdynia. Three men in their 60s and 70s have now been charged and held for questioning.
The drugs in the containers, which had originated in the Middle East, had been placed in bags on pallets, and declared as the rock “soapstone”. The heroin was seized at the port in Gdynia after a lengthy investigation.
Thought to have been operating since May 2016, the gang dealt in smuggling narcotics across the border and distributing them onto the streets of Warsaw.
