Chosen alongside All Quiet on the Western Front, Santiago Mitre's Argentina 1985, and the Banshees of Inisherin, Skolimowski’s film is billed as a dark exploration of humanity, technology and nature.
'EO' by legendary Polish film director Jerzy Skolimowski received an Oscar nomination for Best International Feature Film on Tuesday.
The film by veteran filmmaker Jerzy Skolimowski tells the story of a donkey, who, wandering around the world, suffers cruelty at the hands of man. Passed from hand to hand, the animal meets both good and bad people in a series of adventures that explore a vision of modern Europe through his eyes.
VIDEO: The animals, including a pair of ponies called Cheescake and Gingerbread, munch carrots dipped in vet-approved, non-toxic edible paint which they then use to produce the colourful artwork with their mouths and noses.
