The annual calendar from Olmet, a recycling company from Tarnowskie Góry, is known as the Polish version of the world-famous Pirelli calendar produced each year by the Italian tire giant.
In an attempt to dispel stereotypes that women in correction facilities are ‘ugly and degenerate’ the nine girls from the Juvenile Detention Centre in Zawiercie in southern Poland posed for a stunning set of photos as stars such as Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren and Marilyn Monroe.
From afar, it looks truly monumental – the kind of place in which you’d expect to find a dragon in the moat and a trapped damsel up a tower. Built using 200,000 bricks and 11,000 tons of sandstone, such was the largesse that it was only beaten for size when the Palace of Versailles was completed.
The 2020 calendar called ‘Women to Women’ shows female officers from various branches of the police at work but also captures the more private side of their lives.
