Figures from Eurostat show a dramatic growth in the battery recycling done in Poland with over 500 percent more batteries recycled in 2018 compared to 2010.
The international project will explore ways of overcoming the storage and transport of electricity generated by renewables.
Production is expected to begin in mid-2020, reaching around 100,000 batteries a year. The investment, worth around 100 million euros, is expected to create some 200 jobs, according to the Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
The battery production plans at a new LG factory near Wrocław will provide jobs to approximately 2,500 people, including at least 400 engineers.
