Wielkopolska Uprising finally gets its official day of honour as country marks anniversary with national holiday, albeit a working one

Writing on Facebook today, prime minister Mateusz Morawiecki said: "The Greater Poland Uprising was a great and victorious act of courage and heroism (which) contributed significantly to the rebirth of the independent Republic of Poland!”

Poland has new public holiday

December 27 will become a new public holiday in Poland to mark the 1918-19 Greater Poland Uprising after President Andrzej Duda signed into law a bill instituting the new holiday on Tuesday.
