Stunning 15-metre scroll hidden for hundreds of years goes on display at Royal Castle – but be quick as it will soon disappear again for another decade!

The rarely-seen 17th century water painting scroll is 15 metres long and is currently on display at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. Curator Marta Zdańkowska (pictured) says it will be exhibited for only five weeks before being packed away again. Kalbar/TFN

After lying forgotten for hundreds of years in the royal armoury in Stockholm, the ‘documentary’ scroll containing a series of scenes showing the whole panorama of Poland’s military and political elite, is on display to commemorate the period when Poland was ruled by the Vasa dynasty, one of Europe’s most illustrious royal houses.
