An enormous herd of bison, described by scientists as the largest they have ever seen, has been spotted in the Białowieża forest in eastern Poland.
In 1939 it is thought that only 37 bison remained in the whole of Poland. Thanks to long-term conservation efforts, this number has grown closer to 1,900.
Just why golden jackals are moving into Poland from their traditional hunting grounds in southern Europe is still not clear, but experts believe it could have something to do with warmer winters, and a scarcity of wolves.
