President Andrzej Duda has paid his respects to those who fought and died in the 1863 January Uprising.

Solidarity co-founder laid to rest in Warsaw

Henryk Wujec, a former anti-communist activist and one of the founding fathers of the Solidarity trade union, was laid to rest on Monday in Warsaw's Powązki Military Cemetery. Wujec died on August 15 aged 79.

PM not to take part in election campaign until after his father's funeral

Kornel Morawiecki, the anti-communist opposition activist, leader of Fighting Solidarity, Senior Speaker of the Sejm (lower house) and father of Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, will be laid to rest at Warsaw's Powązki Military cemetery.

The funerals follow years of painstaking work, including exhumations and DNA testing to identify the remains.

Former Polish Prime Minister Jan Olszewski, who died on February 7, was laid to rest on Saturday at Warsaw's Powązki Military Cemetery among other eminent Poles.
