A European Parliament (EP) committee has decided to ask the Dutch authorities for an explanation of alleged discriminatory actions taken by Dutch police against Polish citizens after a football match in Alkmaar, a Polish MEP has said.
The Polish foreign ministry has summoned the Dutch ambassador to a meeting on Saturday to express a protest over "discriminatory actions" taken by Dutch police against Polish footballers.
"Poland has received with enthusiasm the news of the decision of the allied governments of the Netherlands and Denmark to donate modern fighter jets to Ukraine," the foreign minister has written on the X social media platform.
The Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has pledged that his country will provide weapons to protect the air space of Poland and other Nato allies.
Mateusz Morawiecki, the Polish prime minister, has said that, even though he is aware that Poland's proposal is not supported by all EU states, he will try to convince EU leaders to give EU candidate member status to Ukraine.
