King Roger opera returns to Warsaw 92 years after its premiere

The opera was first shown in 1926 at the Grand Theatre in Warsaw. The new production, directed by Mariusz Treliński, shows the Sicilian ruler in all his human fragility as he faces an inner struggle between reason and instinct.

Wrocław hosts 53rd Wratislavia Cantans classical music festival

A concert version of Karol Szymanowski's opera King Roger launched the 53rd International Wratislavia Cantans Festival in Wrocław (southern Poland) on Friday. During this year's festival, 25 concerts are planned of which 14 will be in Wrocław.

International music competition dedicated to Polish composer

The 1st Karol Szymanowski International Music Competition has attracted 120 submissions and 100 musical compositions. The festival will be held in Katowice (southern Poland) on 10-23 September.

Once asked to draw the view from her bedroom window for homework, Anna Odi couldn’t decide whether to draw the crematorium or the gallows where Auschwitz commandant Rudolf Hoess was executed. She told TFN: “I think I am a hostage to the stories of people who experienced this hell. I am continuing what my parents started, to be a witness. Like my parents, I owe it to the victims.”
