The Sejm (lower house) on Wednesday commemorated the 40th anniversary of Polish-born Jewish writer Isaac Bashevis Singer's receipt of the Nobel Prize for literature (1978).
The Hey Jude singer likened Bashevis Singer’s support for animal rights to his own, adding that he would like to see the writer’s birthday turned into a national day of honour.
A plaque commemorating Polish-born Jewish writer and Nobel Prize laureate Isaac Bashevis Singer was unveiled on Krochmalna Street in Warsaw, where Singer lived with his family 110 years ago.
