Located in Ożarów and created by Warsaw-based firm Xystudio, the 19 twin-bedded rooms – each with ensuite bathroom facilities and views of the countryside – have been purposefully designed to cater for marginalized people, many of whom are elderly and disabled, that have been deemed “too healthy for nursing homes, yet too unhealthy for standard shelters”.
The Red Bike Kitchen has been pulling in the crowds and giving people down on their luck the chance to learn new skills.
Organisers of the project hope the pictures will inspire people to adopt a dog.
Everyone is bundled up in drab clothes, it’s -5 and we are all numb with cold. It’s hard to tell volunteer from homeless tonight. Starting at 8 pm, they won’t leave until everyone is seen to, sometimes finishing at 3 AM.
The ship-building project was aimed at teaching people humility and self-respect.
The shoes are now being distributed by the Fundacja Kapucyńska, a charitable organisation whose efforts are directed to aiding the homeless and the poorest in Warsaw.
