On the 40th anniversary of Warsaw’s Old Town being added to UNESCO’s World Heritage list, TFN takes a look at the ‘youngest’ Old Town and its many wonders

Warsaw’s Old Town can be considered one of the youngest in Europe, since the buildings standing today are the result of an enormous effort to recreate and rebuild the destroyed city. Kalbar/TFN

Decimated during WWII, with its churches, palaces, and market-place, spanning history from the 13th to the 20th century, Warsaw’s Old Town is a splendid and meticulous restoration - a true phoenix from the flames, says’s TFN’s Joanna Jasińska.

Oldest time capsule in the WORLD found hidden in church spire

The capsule, which is made of copper and dates back to 1726, was found brimming with treasures in the sphere of the tower at the Church of St. Stanislaus the Bishop and Martyr during renovations.
