Hero climbers carry out daring rescue mission after Italian plunges over 100 feet off side of Himalayan mountain

Italian climber Francesco Cassardo and his colleague was descending the 6,955 metre Gasherbrum peak VII after becoming the first people in history to reach the top when he fell breaking his leg and suffering a near fatal neck injury. Fortunately for him, a group of Polish and Canadian climbers were nearby who rushed to his rescue.

President Andrzej Duda decorated three high-altitude climbers with the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta at the Presidential Palace in Warsaw on Monday, for their part in a winter 2018 mountain rescue on Pakistan's Nanga Parbat.
