The modest size of Sandomierz makes it extremely digestible, and having ticked off the Rynek its natural to find yourself ambling to a castle which, after the correct amount of hallucinogens, could easily be mistaken for a miniature Wawel.

Today is Polish and Hungarian Friendship Day. But what is it that makes this relationship so special?

Stretching from the 11th century up until to today, through both war and peace, Hungary and Poland have enjoyed their own ‘special relationship’. TFN’s Stuart Dowell takes a look at some of the relationship’s defining moments.

Medieval treasure trove ‘belonging to princess’ found in cornfield following tip off from village priest

The thousands of 900-year-old riches which include coins and jewellery rumoured to have belonged to a Ruthenian princess and sister-in-law of 12-century Polish king Bolesław the Wrymouth were discovered in the small village of Słuszków, near Kalisz.

Poznań added to Michelin Guides’ prestigious list of top culinary cities

Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of the Michelin Guides, said: “Its cuisine reflects its cosmopolitan outlook, with influences ranging from Italy to Japan and, while chefs show respect for traditional recipes, they are not afraid to interpret these in a modern fashion.”
