The detonation on Tuesday concluded the operation to remove the dangerous 5.4-tonne Tallboy bomb at the bottom of a channel in Swinoujscie, a Baltic port city in the far northwest of Poland. There were no immediate reports of injuries.
In mid-October, divers of the 8th Coastal Defence Flotilla will start work on neutralising the Tallboy bomb discovered at the bottom of the Piastowski Canal in Swinoujscie (northwestern Poland). It was one of the largest air bombs to be used during World War II.
The Swinoujscie gas terminal in north-western Poland received its 100th liquefied natural gas cargo on Friday. The 90,000 tonnes LNG shipment came from Qatar Liquefied Gas Company Limited (Qatargas) aboard the Al-Safliya LNG tanker.

A memorandum of agreement on cooperation between Poland's north-western port of Szczecin-Swinoujscie and the port of Rotterdam was signed in the latter city on Wednesday in the presence of Polish President Andrzej Duda.
The EC has approved EUR 130 million in EU funds for the expansion of Poland's LNG terminal in the northwestern seaport Świnoujście. The funding will come from the Operational Programme Infrastructure and Environment.

The annual capacity of the LNG terminal in Świnoujście, north-west Poland is to reach 7.5 billion cubic metres of gas, government commissioner for strategic energy infrastructure Piotr Naimski said on Wednesday.
