Mayor of Gdańsk Paweł Adamowicz, who died this week after being attacked during a charity event on Sunday, was buried on January 19 in his home city.
An estimated crowd of 45,000 packed into the historic heart of the city to follow the funeral mass, which was attended by President Andrzej Duda and Lech Wałęsa. The day before thousands had filed past his coffin as it lay in state at the city’s Solidarity museum.
