WSE's WIG hits record high

WIG, the oldest index on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE), rose on Monday by 1.08 percent to its highest value in history, closing at 70,526.66 points, the WSE reported.

Monday marked a successive record for this index in recent days. On Friday, the index closed at 69,774.86 points, beating the previous record from last Wednesday.

The WIG crossed the 70,000-point mark at the beginning of the day, later dropping and rising again to 70,405.2 points by 11 a.m., the highest level in history. At 5 p.m., the index closed at 70,526.66 points, improving on this all-time high.

The WIG was introduced on the WSE's first trading session on April 16, 1991.
