Wroclaw receives title of Best European Destination 2018
Poland's western city of Wroclaw has been officially granted the Best European Destination 2018 title and the Wroclaw Mayor has received a statuette for the city's victory in a Best European Destination competition from the Brussels-based European Best Destinations.
With 41,148 votes from 146 countries, Wroclaw won the competition ahead of Bilbao, Colmar, Hvar, Riga, Milan, Amsterdam, Athens and Paris, among other cities. It was the only Polish city taking part in the competition.
Maximilien Lejeune, the president of European Best Destinations, stressed during the ceremony that Wroclaw's victory "will increase the city's popularity among tourists."
Wroclaw Mayor Rafal Dutkiewicz thanked everyone who voted for Wroclaw and declared that it was a good choice. He also invited all tourists to visit the city.
