Witcher creators release trailer for Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 CD Projekt Red

The trailer for the long-awaited Cyberpunk 2077 game was unveiled yesterday during the E3 Microsoft Xbox conference in LA.

CD Project Red, the publishers behind the hugely successful Witcher games, announced their new production back in 2012. But only a teaser trailer (which won several awards for animation) was released in 2013, keeping fans on the edge of their seats, and critics wondering if the game would ever be released.

The answer came yesterday with the game’s trailer being presented at the end of the E3 expo’s Microsoft conference. It pictured the violent, gritty streets of a city controlled by inhumane corporations, yet setting the scene in broad daylight, with bright colours all around.

This single-player RPG is based on a tabletop game by Mike Pondsmith called Cyberpunk 2020. Fans can expect the same multi-layered storytelling they experienced in the Witcher series, with all the intricacies this new universe will bring.

Night City, California. Year 2077.

The world is broken. MegaCorps manage every aspect of life from the top floors of their sky-scraping fortresses. Down below, the streets are run by drug pushing gangs, tech hustlers, and illegal braindance slingers. The in-between is where decadence, sex and pop culture mix with violent crime, extreme poverty and the unattainable promise of the American Dream.

You are V, a cyberpunk. In a world of cyberenhanced street warriors, tech-savvy netrunners and corporate life-hackers, today is your first step to becoming an urban legend.
