A Lublin man just out of his teens has created a way for internet users to earn money off data most of us give away for free.

Konrad Strek was so young when he created his company Zareklamy that his parents had to be the legal owners until he turned 18.

Now 20 years old, he is attracting attention from global investors with his brainchild which, he says “may be the first place that lets people earn money for watching adverts.”

The rapid growth of the company which was only founded in 2018 and now boast over 4 million earners and over 10,000 advertisers operating across 17 languages has been fuelled by the COVID lockdown and increasing automation of jobs.Zareklamy

The simple to use service just requires people to sign up for an account and then they can begin earning money for filling out online questionnaire, playing games and watching videos.

The service is just as easy to use for advertisers who simply create an account, upload a task or advert and then set the parameters for the users they would like to reach.

This can be done by specifying certain characteristics such as language or country of origin.

Strek told TFN: “It really started when I was still in high school, I always had a passion for computers and I learned programming to create a website for my mother’s beauty salon business.

“After this I made other website for other businesses but my customers were still paying a lot of money for advertisements through Google, it cost about 3 PLN per click.

“I saw a need to create a website which could help people promote their businesses in a more affordable way.”

He continued: “When I started Zareklamy it was only available in Polish, now it has become a global platform where people from all over the world can earn money.

“When people search ‘earn money online’ our company is among the top results, we have users from all around the world.

“Brazil and United States are the top two countries in terms of users followed by India and Indonesia. The COVID pandemic helped our growth in all countries.”

Users of the platform can earn money from browsing website and shopping online. As e-commerce became the booming industry of 2020, the possibility of earning cashback for routine things that people were doing for free daily appealed to many who had lost out on income due to the numerous lockdowns suffered around the globe.

A 2017 report by McKinsey estimated that between 400 and 800 million workers could be displaced by automation of job processes but in the same report they highlighted the possibility of ‘marketization of previously unpaid work’.

The report didn’t have the foresight to predict the rise of Zareklamy  but much of what they foresaw is edging closer.

Strek sees the potential to replace the lost jobs with freelance work on sites such as Zareklamy: “For people earning less than 100 dollars per month this could be more than additional revenue source, it could be a real alternative to typical employment.

“I think we have thousands of users where we are the primary source of income, we can be compared to Uber in this sense but in Europe or the Americas it can be supplemental income or support part time workers.

“This might change over the next few years as there are more tasks and advertisers which means more possibilities to earn.”

Zareklamy is currently partnered with among others Facebook, Fyber, and Pollfish that provide in-app advertising, games and surveys as well as smaller companies that are using the platform to increase their online visibility.”
