An international conference of donors to Ukraine will take place in Warsaw on May 5, the Prime Minister's Office announced on Thursday.

The meeting of state and government leaders as well as commercial and financial representatives is an initiative by the Polish and Swedish prime ministers, Mateusz Morawiecki and Magdalena Andersson, respectively. Its co-hosts are European Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The conference will focus on financing humanitarian aid for Ukraine and will kick off a series of aid events for Ukraine planned over the coming months, the Prime Minister's Office said.

According to the UN, 13 million Ukrainians are currently in need of basic humanitarian aid (shelter, food, medicines).
