Warsaw bourse lists world record number of game developers
The Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) has become the world's leading bourse in terms of the number of game developers listed, the exchange reported on Monday.
"The Warsaw Stock Exchange has strengthened its position as the global leader when it comes to the number of listed companies from the game developers sector," the WSE said. "Since October last year, it has been ahead of such tech giants as the stock exchanges in Japan and South Korea."
The WSE's main and start-up markets now list a total of 58 gamedev companies, the bourse added.
According to Przemysław Gerschmann, an advisor to the WSE board, the gamedev sector was very popular on the Polish stock exchange in 2020. "All indications are that also this year investors will not complain about a lack of attractions," Gerschmann was quoted as saying in the WSE's press release.
Gerschmann referred to last Friday's IPO of US game developer Huuuge, Inc., the biggest gaming debut in the history of the WSE, worth PLN 1.67 billion (EUR 370 million). Nearly 20,000 individual investors subscribed to Huuuge's shares.
Six WSE-listed game developers enjoy capitalisation exceeding PLN 1 billion (EUR 222 million) each, including CD Projekt, 11 Bit Studios, Ten Square Game, PCF Group, PlayWay and Huuuge.
