USA proud to be in NATO together with Poland – US ambassador

Thanks to the trans-Atlantic relations of countries which share similar values, NATO is the strongest alliance in history, wrote US Ambassador to Poland Georgette Mosbacher on Twitter, marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of NATO.

On April 4, 1949, the representatives of 12 countries signed, in Washington, D.C., the North Atlantic Treaty, which forms the legal basis of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Today, the Alliance consists of 29 countries including, since 1999, Poland.

"#NATO arose from the ashes of World War Two to prevent war and aggression. Today is the 70th anniversary of @NATO – thanks to the trans-Atlantic ties of countries with similar values, it is the strongest alliance in history. The US is proud that it is, side by side with Poland, a part of it," Ambassador Mosbacher wrote on her Twitter account.
