US vice-president confirms full support for Poland says PM

The US has confirmed its commitment to Poland and made clear that Putin will suffer severe consequences for his aggressive actions, Mateusz Morawiecki, the prime minister, said after meeting with US Vice-President Kamala Harris in Warsaw.
The prime minister met Harris on Thursday during her brief visit to the Polish capital.
After the meeting, Morawiecki said in a tweet: "Today's visit by US Vice President Kamala Harris is not only a confirmation of the strategic Polish-American partnership, but most of all very specific talks on sanctions against Russia and strengthening NATO's eastern flank".
"The USA fully confirms its allied obligations towards us, and has assured us that Putin will suffer severe consequences for his aggressive actions," he continued. "I am very glad that the United States shares Poland's view of becoming completely independent of Russian energy resources, and was one of the first countries in the world to introduce an embargo on them."
In an interview with the Polish prime minister, Vice President Harris said she had come to Nato's eastern flank to confirm the US commitment to Poland and other Nato allies. She added that she would talk about everything that needs to be done to make sure that Russia will suffer consequences for its aggressive actions.
