US ambassador congratulates Polish women on voting rights anniversary
US ambassador to Poland Georgette Mosbacher on Saturday congratulated Polish women on the 102nd anniversary of their achieving the right to vote.
"Congratulations on the anniversary of Polish women gaining the right to vote! Our votes help to shape our lives and our countries," Mosbacher tweeted.
Voting rights were granted to women in Poland on November 28, 1918, under a decree by the country's leader Jozef Pilsudski. The first vote embracing women took place in the winter of 1919.
