Unemployment expected to grow to 6.2 pct in May - economic institute

Poland's unemployment rate is likely to rise to a level of 6.2 percent in May from 5.8 percent in April, the Polish Economic Institute (PIE) said in its recent analysis.

PIE added that an increase in the unemployment rate to a two-digit level is "increasingly unlikely", as data from Labour Offices show that the growth of the number of unemployed is moderate compared to estimates published two months ago.

The institute expects the largest increase in unemployment in June, due to the end of terms of notice.

Economists polled by PAP estimated that the unemployment rate in May would reach 6.2 percent against 5.8 percent in April.
