From March 6 Ukraine will be able to import gas from Poland, also from the Polish LNG terminal, the Ukrainian state-run gas transit system operator said on Saturday.

"Together with the Polish gas pipeline operator Gaz-System S.A. we agreed on.... the introduction of guaranteed capacity for gas imports, and from March 6 we will be able to physically import this raw material from Poland," GTS Ukraine wrote on Facebook on Saturday.

"This will allow the physical import of gas from Poland, including liquefied gas delivered from the LNG terminal, on a guaranteed basis", the Ukrainian gas transit operator added.

The company said that gas will now be able to flow to the Ukrainian market from three directions - Slovakia, Hungary and Poland.

Ukraine, one of the largest gas consumers in Europe, stopped importing gas from Russia in 2015 and buys it in Europe.
