Turnout in Poland's presidential election at 52.1 pct by 5 pm

Voter turnout in the second round of Poland's presidential election amounted to 52.1 percent by 5 pm on Sunday, the State Electoral Commission (PKW) said during a press conference at 6:30 pm. Voting began at 7:00 am and is slated to run to 9:00 pm.

The number of Poles eligible to cast a ballot on Sunday amounts to 29,359,152. "By 5 pm, 15,295,512 people or 50.1 percent of those eligible to vote received ballot cards," PKW head Sylwester Marciniak said.

Voter turnout during the first round of the presidential ballot conducted on June 28, 2020, amounted to 47.89 percent by 5 pm.

Voter turnout during the presidential run-off held over five years ago, on May 24, 2015, amounted to 40.51 percent by 5 pm.

The State Electoral Commission (PKW) will hold one more press conference on Sunday, at 10 pm, after polling stations close.
