Tragic Monday on Polish roads with 14 killed in crashes
Polish police reported that 14 people died in car accidents on Monday, making it deadliest day of the Easter holidays.
In total 31 people were killed and 210 injured in 188 accidents over Easter.
The police also detained 1,265 drunken drivers, 20 percent more than last year and the highest number in recent years during the holiday season, Robert Opas from the police's road traffic office said on Tuesday.
At the same time, the number of speeding offences over 50 kmh fell to 396 this year.
Last year, during the four days of the holiday season, 22 people were killed on the roads, 181 injured, while 1,069 were detained for drunk driving, and there were 909 speeding cases in built-up areas - over 50 km/h.
