Japanese firm Toshiba Carrier Corporation will open its first European production and distribution plant in 2020 in Gniezno, western Poland, worth over PLN 100 mln (EUR 23.5 mln), the Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH) told PAP on Tuesday.

PAIH, which supported the project, said that the investment will be carried within the Polish Investment Zone (PSI) programme, offering tax exemptions and inspiring enterprises to investment.

Toshiba Carrier Corporation produces air conditioners, refrigeration systems, fans and compressors. The new plant in Gniezno, which will be located on the Kostrzynsko-Slubicka Special Economic Zone, will deal with distribution and production operations.

PAIH said the facility will allow the investor to reduce production time by two thirds, reduce costs, and strengthen the offer adapted to the specific needs of Europe.

Toshiba Carrier Corporation CEO Toru Kubo observed that the investment in Poland was part of the company's global development strategy.
