Three people attacked by man with machete in Polish city

A 21-year-old man was arrested by police after a machete attack on three people in the north-central Polish city of Torun, on Monday morning.

The suspect's first victim was a woman who suffered facial injuries after being struck with, according to the police, a 50 centimetre-long weapon. Despite her wounds she was still able to alert the police.

The attack took place shortly after 5 a.m. on Monday.

"As a result of the attack, three people – two women and a man - were sent to hospital. One of the women suffered facial injuries while the other had a hand injury," said a Torun police spokesperson.

The male victim also suffered a facial injury.

The+ spokesperson added that the arrested man is a Pole who may have foreign roots.

According to unofficial information from PAP, the man may have been under the influence of drugs.
