Territorial Defence Force switches to crisis mode

Poland's Territorial Defence Force has switched from training mode to full crisis alertness to aid medical services in combating the spread of coronavirus, the force's commander, General Wiesław Kukuła, said on Wednesday.
Kukuła added that slowing down the proliferation of the virus required speedy action, which was why the force has been put on crisis alert.
The force's spokesperson, Lt. Col. Marek Pietrzak, said there was no way to combat the virus at the moment, but added that territorial defence units will undertake wide-scale preventive measures, including care of elderly people, who are especially in risk of contracting the virus.
Also, the regular army said on Wednesday it was prepared to battle the virus countrywide.
