A temporary military hospital for Covid-19 patients opened on Wednesday on an air force base in Warsaw's Okęcie district.

The hospital, run by the Military Institute of Medicine, has 56 beds. Of those beds, 30 are equipped with ventilators and 26 are in the internal treatment ward. If necessary, the clinic can be enlarged to have room for 250 beds.

The hospital is staffed by military medics, teams from a renowned Warsaw clinic and students from the Łódź Medical University.

Health Minister Adam Niedzielski told a press conference on Wednesday that 22 temporary Covid-19 clinics were currently open nationwide, with a total of more than 6,000 beds for Covid-19 patients.
