Szymon Szynkowski aka Sęk named Poland's new deputy FM

Law and Justice MP Szymon Szynkowski aka Sęk has been appointed Poland's deputy foreign minister, the Foreign Ministry announced in a Friday press release.

Szynkowski will replace Marek Magierowski who is to become Poland's ambassador to Israel.

Magierowski was Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from May 2017. He was responsible for American, Asian and Middle Eastern policy and economic diplomacy. In 2015-2017, he worked at the President's Office where he has been the director of the press office and an expert on public diplomacy.

Szymon Szynkowski, 32, is a graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan.

During the years 2006-2015 he was a Poznań city councillor. In 2015, he was elected to the Sejm (lower house) where he sits on the Sejm Committee for European Union Affairs. He is also the chairman of the Polish-German parliamentary group.
