Szczecin-Świnoujście and Rotterdam sign memorandum on cooperation
A memorandum of agreement on cooperation between Poland's north-western port of Szczecin-Swinoujscie and the port of Rotterdam was signed in the latter city on Wednesday in the presence of Polish President Andrzej Duda.
Head of the Polish President's Office Krzysztof Szczerski noted that this is the second, after the Port of Gdańsk, agreement signed with "the largest centre of world maritime trade."
"This agreement on mutual investing, support for innovation and development and the modernisation of Polish ports is extremely important to us as we focus on the development of the Polish maritime economy," said Szczerski.
The President's Office has emphasised that cooperation with the port of Rotterdam gives its partners access to the global port network, and thus allows to attract potential investors or establish cooperation ties with other ports and companies in this field of the economy.
According to Szczerski, the signing of the agreement is part of the strategy of the Three Seas Initiative, "a strategy of using transport to build European cohesion, but also building the economic importance of our region."
