A stronger Europe requires an ambitious budget, whereas several EU member states seem to be not fully aware of this relationship, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said in Brussels on Friday, the second day of an EU budget summit.

"There are countries which are not fully aware of the fact that we need an ambitious budget if we want to have a stronger Europe," Morawiecki said.

He added that "we can't do more for less money, as postulated by some."

The prime minister said that the ongoing negotiations were very difficult.

Morawiecki said that eastern EU members are developing fast but still need funds to catch up with the West.

The Polish prime minister is in Brussels at an extraordinary EU summit devoted to the bloc's 2021-2027 budget.
