Strategic importance of Polish-US alliance confirmed by presidents - PM

The presidents of Poland and the US, Andrzej Duda and Donald Trump, underlined the strategic importance of the alliance between the two countries, PM Mateusz Morawiecki tweeted in reference to a series of agreements signed in the White House on Wednesday.
"Modernisation of the army, increasing the US (military - PAP) presence in Poland and energy cooperation is the implementation of the Polish raison d'etat," Morawiecki wrote on Wednesday night.
According to the prime minister, Polish-American relations are the best ever thanks to President Duda's engagement.
On Wednesday, in Washington, presidents Duda and Trump signed a declaration on defence cooperation, which foresees increasing the permanent rotational presence of US troops (by about 1,000 soldiers), as well as the establishment of a US Division Headquarters (Forward) in Poland.
An agreement was also signed to increase annual supplies of US liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Poland by 2 billion cubic meters.
