State budget surplus amounts to EUR 4.8 billion at end-January

At the end of January, the state budget surplus totalled PLN 22.3 billion (EUR 4.8 billion) which is a better result than the one recorded in January 2021, a deputy finance minister has said.

Sebastian Skuza told PAP on Friday: "January budget revenues jumped 44.5 percent year on year, or by approximately PLN 18.1 billion (EUR 3.9 billion), to about PLN 58.7 billion (EUR 12.7 billion)."

According to ministry's data, VAT revenues in this period increased by 40.5 percent year on year, personal income tax revenues rose by 53.1 percent and corporate income tax revenues were higher by 51.8 percent year on year.

The deputy finance minister noted that January budget spending rose 7.2 percent year on year, or by about PLN 2.4 billion (EUR 0.52 billion) to approximately PLN 36.4 billion (EUR 7.9 billion).
