The Polish family and labour minister has told PAP that "state intervention as part of the anti-crisis and financial shields has been effective." She added that the aid, which exceeded PLN 130 bln (EUR 29.5 bln), has helped the economy and saved over 5 mln jobs.

Referring to the estimates published by the Central Statistical Office (GUS), Minister Marlena Maląg said that both Poland's average corporate gross wage and corporate employment had gone up month on month in July.

GUS reported on Wednesday that Poland's average corporate gross wage rose by 3.8 percent year on year to PLN 5,381.65 (EUR 1,223.1) in July 2020, and in monthly terms, it grew by 1.8 percent.

July's corporate employment dropped by 2.3 percent year on year to 6,252,000 and increased by 1.1 percent month on month.

Maląg admitted that July's corporate employment was 2.3 percent lower than a year earlier, but stated that the monthly growth was proof of some improvement.

According to the minister, the growth of the average corporate gross wage was another piece of good news.

"August data are also optimistic," said Maląg, adding that they were a sign that the economy was returning to the right path.
