A transport of 20,000 litres of Polish disinfectant will soon reach Spain by road as a truck transport was scheduled to set off on Thursday, Poland's Foreign Ministry has said in a news release.

The Trisept Complex has been manufactured by Warsaw-based pharmaceutical company Polfa Tarchomin.

Spain's ambassador to Poland, Francisco Javier Sanabria Valderrama, took part in the official transfer of the chemicals, along with Polish state officials and Polfa Tarchomin representatives.

"In times when all nations struggle with huge difficulties, it is solidarity that we need most," Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Przydacz was quoted as saying in the statement.

The Spanish ambassador thanked Poland on Twitter for its solidarity with Spain.

Spain has been among the countries hardest hit by the coronavirus epidemic, with nearly 180,000 cases and over 18,000 deaths, as of Wednesday.

Poland's assistance for Spain has been consulted as part of NATO's Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) mechanism, the ministry also said.
